Lights and sounds pulsing to the beat, thumping drums, and hissing noise interferences in a dark room: Raster is an artistic platform and an archive for avant-garde electronic music and intermedia networking. Since its founding in 1996, around 200 audiovisual projects have been created, many following a serial concept, in addition to performances, installations, and publications. The label has always moved fluidly between club culture and art. Raster brings together major international innovators in new audiovisual music and artists like Belief Defect, Dasha Rush, Kyoka, Atom™, Robert Lippok, and the label’s founders, Olaf Bender and Frank Bretschneider, a.k.a. Byetone and Komet.
In the framework of the exhibition No Photos on the Dance Floor! Berlin 1989—Today at C/O Berlin, Raster will present a selection of its ongoing reflections on the artistic dialog between sound, light, and images in a full-evening performance program. Raster stands for artistic research and conceptual rigor, but also for the celebration of abstraction, testing of boundaries, and a new audiovisual experience.
