Biometric, practical, good. Photo booths are one thing above all: technical-stoical. Everyone has at some time sat in one of these sober cubicles with its curtain and swivel stool, coin slot, glaring flash and slot where the photos come out. Photo booths are special aggregates of authorless photography, in which the person portraited is both the protagonist and the object.

In terms of statistics and functionality they are the complete opposite of the narrative-individual photography that the legendary agency Magnum stands for. And yet these two photographic principles congenially fit together. For the first time worldwide, C/O Berlin will present three photo booths that the art institution has constructed specially, which will photograph visitors in the style of Elliott Erwitt, Martin Parr, Paolo Pellegrin, Philippe Halsman, Steve McCurry and Bruce Gilden. How paradoxical – machines perfectly simulating the individual approach of the renowned Magnum photographers! Who is actually the author in this game? And the best thing of all is that after each session the visitors can take their original Magnum portrait away with them as a print or share it on the Internet as a digital file.

Costs per photo: 5 Euro.
