Artist Lecture & Talk with Jonas Lindstroem & Ann-Christin Bertrand

Jonas Lindstroem’s visual language can be described with a multitude of terms—bizarre, absurd, surreal; sometimes minimalistic and sometimes abstract. Lindström is an artist, photographer, and filmmaker who is based in both Berlin and London. His clients include major fashion labels like Calvin Klein, Hèrmes, Kenzo, Nike, and Yves Saint Laurent; well-known magazines like 032C and ZEIT Magazin; and celebrities like Kendrick Lamar and Beyoncé. Lindström’s work confronts and engages with our contemporary visual culture and the worlds of art and consumerism, asking: What is real? What is fake? And what is fiction? The focus of all of Lindström’s work is on the human being. And, as with Irving Penn, Lindstroem’s aesthetic transcends the boundaries of applied photography. While Lindström draws from the western visual tradition, virtually none of his works bear direct reference to the iconic works of art and photographic history.
