Code of Conduct
The C/O Berlin Foundation views photography and visual media as forms of social exchange in which we seek to respectfully, empathetically, and openly engage in. Our artistic program aims to inspire visitors to discover new perspectives through the work of various local and transnational artists, initiating rich discussions on socially relevant topics.
Amerika Haus, the historical predecessor of our institution and the current location of C/O Berlin, was founded in the postwar period as a site for promoting cultural exchange and democracy. We too support the promotion of democratic values and the creation of an open space for intercultural dialogue.
As a nonprofit, private foundation, we at C/O Berlin work to implement a diverse, inclusive program, and our primary task is to make cultural participation and democratic involvement accessible to all people. Gender equality is actively experienced in our team, and we are dedicated to continually maintain it. We strive to uphold such values in all areas of our institution: from planning our program of events and developing exhibitions to involving the public and hiring employees.
At C/O Berlin it is important for us that our visitors, artists, and co-workers are equally respected and valued. In our communication we make sure that our language is gender-sensitive and inclusive. These principles are valid regardless of origin, age, religion, disabilities, sexual orientation, and gender identity. C/O Berlin both advocates and is committed to these values.
We would like to emphasize that we are always learning as an organization. We take feedback and criticism seriously so that we can constantly further develop and gain new insight.
C/O Berlin expects all visitors to treat each other in a respectful and friendly manner, so that everybody feels safe and comfortable at all times.
We do not tolerate any form of discrimination, racism, sexism, antisemitism, ableism, homophobia or transphobia.
If you experience or observe discrimination during your visit, please approach our staff at the counter or write an email to awareness@co-berlin.org.
