C/O Berlin presents the project “Close Up!” in cooperation with the 65th Berlin International Film Festival. From February 5 to 15, 2015, 13 young photographers will receive the opportunity to experience working as professional photojournalists at the Berlinale.
Photo journalism can be glamorous. But hard, too! Thirteen young photographers are given the assignment of presenting their personal view of the Berlinale in all its diversity—the red carpet, glamorous film stars, hectic staff, or behind-the-scenes secrets. Each participant will decide on a theme, embark on a search for motifs, select images, and put together a series of works for exhibition. The photographs will be shown at C/O Berlin in the Amerika Haus at the conclusion of the Berlinale. The works submitted by the participants will be judged by a specialist jury, and the three best series will receive an award.
With this project, C/O Berlin and the Berlinale are taking an active part in promoting young talents in photojournalism.
Applications may be submitted immediately! Prospective photographers between the ages of 20 and 25 who are still enrolled in their studies are invited to participate. The following application materials should be submitted in printed form by no later than Friday, January 9, 2015: a brief CV with ten samples of work (max. size A4, no originals since the application materials will not be returned).
